WARNINGS

Never:

1- Misuse instruments or overstrain parts or racks. Do not process powered instruments in an ultrasonic cleaner.

2- Use abrasives on instruments, as this will destroy the surface finish. That may later cause discoloration, rusting, or pitting.

3- Never Handle instruments by their tips. These should be cleaned by trained personnel only who will ensure the delicate working ends are well protected during storage or sterilization.

4- Pack instruments with other, more difficult instruments. Remember always – heavy instruments on the bottom and light instruments on the top.

5- Use general-purpose oils for instruments; only water-soluble lubricants should be used.

6- Leave instruments soaking longer than necessary in chemical sterilizing solutions. After they have been sterilized they should be washed thoroughly in warm water to remove all traces of the chemicals to prevent discoloration or pitting.

7- Store wet instruments. They must be thoroughly dried first.

8- Never expose stainless steel instruments to bleach or other chemicals for disinfection. Disclosure to bleach will result in severe pitting of your instruments and will void all manufacturer’s guarantees.

9- Do not leave soiled instruments to dry. If it is impossible to clean them immediately after use, soak them in cold water.

10- Never use cutters on instruments. This will spoil the surface finish and may later cause pitting, discoloration, or rusting.

11- Don't make bladed instruments touch any other instruments.

12- Don't put instruments of different metals in the same cleaning cycle.

13- Do not use steel wool or wire brushes for cleaning.

14- Do not use common Saline as it commences the process of corrosion.

15- Do NOT use a silicone spray as this will present the instrument unsterile.

INSTRUCTIONS

Always:

1- Check all instructions for the use and sterilization of new instruments. Unless otherwise directed they should be inspected, cleaned, rinsed, and lubricated before being put into service.

2- Lubricate after cleaning with a proprietary water-soluble instrument lubricant. Use just neutral pH cleaning solutions.

3- Follow the approved cleaning procedure of the hospital.

4- Do not use corrosive cleaning agents. We recommend cleaning solutions and rinses with ph 7.0.

5- Do not use abrasive cleaners brushes with hard bristles. Use distilled water for rinsing only. Water with chloride contents may damage or even destroy the instruments.

6- Do not leave instruments in cleaning or disinfecting solutions for long terms (overnight or weekend), the instruments can be destroyed.

7- Ensure all instruments are only used for the purpose for which they were designed.

8- Handle all instruments gently. Never overstrain, drop or misuse them. Check all instruments for damage after use.

9- Give special attention to micro-instruments. They are fine tips that can easily be damaged by contact with other instruments or the sides of the case in which they should be kept. Hand cleaning is preferable.

10- Ensure all instruments are thoroughly dried before being stored.

11- Pack instruments carefully with the heavier ones lying on a piece of cloth or towel at the bottom.

12- Store and sterilize bow-handled instruments on a special holder. Always leave racks and ratchets open.

13- Check the hardness of the water used in the autoclave. Too hard water will leave a deposit on the instruments.

14- If a water softener is used ensure it is at the manufacturer's recommended level. Too much may cause discoloration or pit.

Make sure all instrument covers are visibly neat and free from stains and proteinaceous substances.
